SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOMEEntirely worth the hype, Spider-Man: No Way Home breaks out of its childish themes by implementing a logical understanding of a complex thought, inventing antagonists with relevance and grit, and dealing with real-world responsibilities.

SECOND SEASON OF TED LASSOPerfectly carrying the tone and profound notions into this second season, Ted Lasso's journey, once again, effectively finds a way into your heart. Taking the time to give the much deserved screen time to supporting characters, the ride to get there made it feel as though only some were sentimental.

FREE GUYSurprisingly, despite the looks of its cover and trailer, Free Guy's advertising doesn’t do its well-executed plot justice. Shockingly delivering upon a comedic script that's worth the laugh, this succeeds in what all Action/Comedy's dream of.

NO TIME TO DIEThis film never fails to hold your attention and earns its lengthy runtime. Keeping up with the crisp and irresistible action that embraces the newly profound humor and maturity of a recently unconfined character, there is no way around the raw repercussions of his questionable decisions. With brilliant choreography and a defined directorial eye, this has its bold and charming moments, among all.

COPSHOPHaving an anti-sophisticated perspective with a stylish presentation creates a unique experience. Diving into its own world, this controlled directional eye and creative execution turn what is normally an accustomed presentation into something tasteful. From entertaining with a groovy score to distinctive final moments on screen, this storytelling concludes a not completely perfect but unbothered film.

HONORABLE MENTIONS
For the ones that just weren't good enough to make the list, but are still worthy of your time...
DUNEThe cinematography goes unsaid with its utter beauty. Gracefully depicting a coherent and defined image, the feeling precisely transfers into the audience. Acting side by side with intuitive and sharp directing, this storytelling takes all the right pieces from aspects within the genre to make it its own.

SHADOW AND BONEFrom graceful cinematography to illustrative directing, the cinematic tone is established and developed cohesively with suspense. Capturing the balance of fantasy, anticipation, and drama, this finds a way to create its own meticulous world within its screen time and portrays a clear and effective theme.

LOKIThe modest implications we get to see of his power and the sophistication that has become his character are practical and absorbing. Finally validating being more than just a villain, you get to see a glimpse into not only the visually pleasing power of his magic but the strength that is behind a misunderstood, dynamic character.

1. FORD V FERARRI
|
Including but not limited to: outstanding lead performances, an intense and heartwarming plot, and seamless editing, this film racks up as my favorite of the year, by bringing something for everyone in an intense and unique way. Rating: 8.5/10 |
2. JOKER
|
Driven by a phenomenal character portrayal, this shows a closer look on someone who is slowly ticking away. Throwing in awkward and intense scenes that don't normally get showcased in film, this builds suspense throughout the film. While it doesn't quite top Health Ledger's Joker, this is still a must see.

Though this franchise could have easily survived without this film, it has positive aspects to offer- adding plenty of new, relevant characters that are entertaining, incredible visuals and an end to a character arc we didn't think we needed, which finishes the series strong.
